I am not half as good as I want to be, but I am twice as good as you think I am.

I'm sorry- I know another person with your username. He's a brother, so that's why I addressed you in a familiar tone.

Yes. The PIG is an authorized weapon for patrols. However instruction will be with the AR15 in an A1 configuration. Amphibious instruction is with a Springer "rubber duck" this year. :D

I'm on the AP chat right now if anyone wants to talk.

lol good one. And yes, you're right. It's K-BAR over there.

We try to keep this immersive course as "real" as safely possible. So failure is always out there. Nobody likes to fail, however you will feel 200% better about your skills and performance when you complete a Course knowing that you might have washed out.

Here's how to fail BRS:
    Ignore your instructors
    Ignore your teammates
Fall asleep on your watch at harbor site
Be insubordinate, ie: "mouth-off" or show disrespect for your teammate
Choose not to complete assigned tasks
Choose to "forget" everything taught to you 10-minutes ago
Field instructors are assisted by previous graduates. Candidates are accompanied by a "Lane Grader" as well as a Field Instructor. We have a Lane Card with each Candidates' name on it during each Evolution. Your performance is scored on it and at the end of the Course, you either fail, complete, or Graduate the School. Graduates are awarded a ribbon at the graduation ceremony.

Here's how to Graduate
    Try (hard)
    Listen (well)
    DO (act as a team)

Here are last year's graduates.

with a likelyhood of getting kicked or failed........

good show, have fun with that.

In two years there have been 8 students with only one not graduating, I wouldn't call that a "likelihood".

If I can make it? Anybody can!

(if they want to be there)

That is a very high likelihood for KA-BAR.

I noticed there's a note about pinned OpFor in the event description, are there openings for VC? I hope to have an RPK set up by then and would love to have an excuse to get the VC gear. Might be able to bring another two VC with me also.

So it's $150 for four days of instruction, we provide our own gear or rent it all for $30, with a bare minimum of two sets of OD's (107's) and a set of Khaki dress mess + an M16VN or M16A1 AEG + food?

Correct.

Usually the instructors will get you some hot chow at some point depending on how pleased they are with the class...... ;)

Because video games can only go so far, join us today and start living the adventure. The MCHA Basic Reconnaissance School (BRS) is a step into the past. You get to live an experience in 1968 for four days! It's a living history immersion of the USMC Counter Guerrilla School during the Vietnam War. That looks like a blast. I don't see the price being an obstacle....getting all the kit together for it sounds like it would take the best part of a year.

But still very cool!

Standard kit is about $70. Rothco makes the OD fatigues, and jungle boots are plentiful- even used, or knock offs form China. Plus $30 in rental gear gets you fully equipted.

Airsoft guns- well, that's another matter altogether, but we do have spares available.

I've seen people get excited about the course, only to fail to register because they're daunted by the equipment list. That's part of the reason the MCHA has enough spare gear to equip a Platoon. Simply put, if you're interested register NOW, and you'll work toward getting whatever it is you want to get by the start date.

You can also follow us on facebook: http://tinyurl.com/2a3evmd

Good luck. We hope to see more and more people at BRS and other living history events.
