Re: Summer Slaughter 7

Another Summer Slaughter is wrapped up and in the books. From all of us here at Special Detachment Group 1, we want to thank all the sponsors, the players, the vendors, the field owners, and the weather controllers.

Every year is an improvement on the previous. This year while we had a lower player count versus last year (286 versus 242) things overall went smoother. We had less instances of reported hacking, and only had a couple issues that required admin intervention. Overall the player attitudes and desire to play was high and kept things moving.

This year also had less trash left behind at the end of the event, and no full campsites! We did have a few reported instances of items up and walking off from peoples camp sites, and to those who think stealing is OK, you are not welcome at our events ever again. If we find you (and we do have names), you will be banned from ours and any other events associated with us. /rantover

A couple of notes to keep in mind for future games (ours and others):

1) Games start on time. If you want to play in the game that is going on, it's best to be there at the beginning. We had multiple game blocks where people showed up 15-60 min after the game started wanting to play. It becomes very difficult to ensure teams are balanced and direct you to the spawns. There was no secret as to the start times, we had 2 GIANT time tables that we told you about.

2) Face Protection: This was the biggest issue I saw this weekend. Face protection is required and is mandatory to have on the field. If you are using a wrap or shemagh, having it around your neck isn't good enough. It needs to be providing a barrier to your face. Like was said in the safety brief, the insurance company looks at the after game media (photos and video) to make sure things are in compliance. It also screws with our media guy because he has to make sure that NO PART of the video shows people without face protection. Don't be that guy that ruins it for everyone.

3) Supplies: Remember that Sniperzden does not have trash or water on site. You are responsible for providing your own water, and taking ALL your trash off the field. This year was one of the better years for trash. But there was still stuff left that we had to take off the field.

4) Issues: If there are any issues, please report them to the admins. Us hearing of issues after the event does nothing to fix them during. Players not calling hits, items being stolen, people knocking others tents down are all things we can address at the field. Talking about it later doesn't help solve problems. Spreading rumors doesn't help. Letting us know when it happens allows us the best chance to solve the issue.

If you have any sustains or improves, please let us know. We are always trying to improve our events and want to make them better.

One last note: Any media posted (photos or video) of the game must show people wearing face pro. If you don't follow this rule, you run the risk of causing us to lose the field.
