Why not just do this
It gives some wiggle room.
AEG 400-420
CQC 320-350
Bolt 450-500(I don't the bolt limit)
DMR 400-450 (or the DMR limit)

FPS limits are dumb.

Even 500 fps is not going to cause serious damage at point blank range. Wear eye pro, and a mouth guard if you don't want a tooth knocked out.

At smaller, not chronographed games, I've been using a 440FPS M4 shooting like 23-25rps and it's gone without issue actually. But I don't really use it in places that are very close quarters... I use my MK18 shooting 340 there.

My fear is, if 420 becomes the new "written" limit, then what? Do they let guns at 440 pass the chrono because it's only 20 over? I saw one hit 440 this weekend, and it was allowed in play. The kid using the gun couldn't have been older than 15.

Manufacturers need to pull their heads out of their asses and stop bumping FPS to make sales. If we keep buying their shit, they'll keep making it. If we change our rules to accommodate manufactures, we let them run the show.

Agree with Matt.
I'm annoyed by this new 420 thing.

mcnair wrote:I think going back to a strict 400fps limit will screw over many players. ANd the majority of them, like myself, haven't even opened our guns. They come that way.

My Type 97 came shooting 435, I payed some $16 and dropped in an M110 and now shoot 395.
That's not being screwed over. It's safety.

That being said, 475 is halfway between 400 and 550, and I think the few of us with actual DMRs should be allowed to use them as long as we carry a sidearm and watch engagement distances. It's only reasonable if we allow n00blets to run around with bolts shooting 550.

I think they started to keep the FPS up over the life of the rifle.

420 new, 400 after some hard use.

When I've chrono'd, no. 420 is the cut off. the 20 over 400 is the leeway. It's always been an unwritten thing. I know plenty of people that have always shot over 400fps and have played for the last 10 years.

The hosts can do whatever they want, in the end. There is no law.

The 420 rule I use is a hard cap. If it shoots once over 420 then we do 5 shots and average it (in case a fluke) and if the average is over then its a no go but I also use two chronos and now 3 to make sure there is a diff chrono to use since they show odd readings. a perfect chrono doesnt exist except for the F1 chronoys and those can be annoying to use.

I dont use DMR rules because 99% of the time nobody has a semi auto only one.

someone said X-Cortech are bad chronos. Actually they are not. They are the most widely used ones for airsoft I have seen.

Mad Bull Chrono I have consistently seen false readings with.

However keeping fresh batteries in the chronos and cleaning them out will help with the readings. After every event I swap the batteries and clean out the units from the bb debris that they pick up inside.

The one at Sundown this weekend seemed a little wacky. I agree with Matt for the most part. My gun shoots a steady 330 so its great for CQB and decent for field. Alot of people that are new to Airsoft believe FPS=Better gun. Really, It doesnt. More stress on the gearbox. And no one really likes getting a bb in the face at that fast.

Yeah, technically they can do whatever they want. And technically I don't have to allow them to use airsoftpacific.com to promote their events if I feel they are unsafe or negligent. All of the assholes who came on here posting about "pain games" can tell you how that works.

You know what the problem is? Nobody will put their foot down, and say when enough is enough. The only thing I don't like more than bronies are people with no spine.
