Washington County Airsofting Law/Rules?

Postby Frosty126 » Fri Aug 24, 2012 1:57 pm

Am I alright shooting at a target in my yard with my orange tip on?

I think that it's illegal to shoot on Portland Land (somewhere in the law), but does this also apply to Airsofting in Washington County (in my yard).

Also - I'm good to remove my orange tip at Oregon Airsoft (and put a sound amp on) - right? I'd keep the orange tip on for transportation and other use (like my yard).

If it is in your backyard and it is not being aimed into a street, other persons yard, at people, pets, etc.

I'm not 100% sure. I've always just shot cans with low power springers whenever I'm bored and I've never had trouble.

It also kinda depends on your neighbors,(if you have any). Some are okay with it, some are not. Just try and not shoot over the fence. (If in your backyard)

Just don't brandish it in public. Not even in front of your own house. Backyard shooting, most people do it. Orange tips aren't required at Oregon Airsoft Arena, just transport it in a gun bag/case or box. I can't remember how many times I've seen kids or even adults walk out or in airsoft places brandishing a bleeding replica in public. Maybe five times or something.

If I recall, there is a law saying that a replica firearm cannot be discharged in city limits unless it is out of the view of public or on private property, which your backyard is private property.

Somebody above the age of eighteen should chime in.

Neighbors don't have any say in this. They cannot control what you do on your own private property. It is just common courtesy to let the neighbors know as to what is going on.

Here's the city ordinance for Beaverton.
http://www.beavertonoregon.gov/Document ... e/View/983

They define that you cannot use it in a "public place," meaning private property is fine.

As far as I know there's not a county wide ordinance, only individual cities.
