Okay, having translated the bit about lasers being fast to lasers be low power (it took a minute), I am confident in saying this:

I don't know a whole lot about lasers, but having a laser above 5mW is certainly not illegal. There's a 50 mW laser about 25 feet from me as the crow flies, and you can get a 1 watt laser here. Now, those are both frankly dangerous, but a 5mW laser straight to the eye is going to cause damage in more time than it takes to blink. To risk eye damage, you'd have to not blink when a bright light suddenly hit your eye. You'd have to have direct contact, laser straight to your eye, for more than that blink took. Why take the risk? I can't speak for the arenas in question, but I'd say there's more risk falling and getting a concussion on a doorway playing airsoft than taking laser damage in the eye.

Shall we pad the door edges? ;)

http://www.fda.gov/MedicalDevices/Safet ... 237129.htm

"The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is alerting consumers about the risk of eye and skin injuries from exposure to high-powered laser pointers. FDA regulations limit the energy output of hand-held laser pointers to 5 milliwatts (mW).

Although illegal and potentially dangerous, they are increasingly available on the Internet and in stores. The FDA wants to make consumers aware that they should not buy these lasers for themselves or as gifts for others."

correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't glasses such as Oakely M frames, Revision desert locust goggles, and ESS glasses protect against laser-eye damage?

I stand corrected re: legality, then. Regarding the danger of someone just walking in with a 1 watt laser, it's theoretically possible. A laser that bright is highly visible, however. It would be rapidly clear to anyone watching. The view in the below video, for example, is not much exaggerated by the camera.

I avoid night games rather than risk breaking the laser that some assclown feels will give him uber elite aiming skills. Nothing worse than having someone paint your eyes in the dark with a laser

You ever looked at the sun? Are you blind? Cause that's what THEY say happens!
Yes Lasers can cause eye damage. Yes higher MW Lasers can be harmful to your skin and eyes especially with prolonged exposure. But you rarely get that form a laser mounted on a weapon.
You ever been to a club? Every shitty a$$ club in Portland has has been using lasers to make their DJ's more awesome for years... I even looked right into one on a number of occasions... I'm not blind, dead, or un-FDA approved.
Why are we even talking about this? If you have a weapon mounted laser...

By "blinded the hell out of" do you mean annoyed and caused no lasting damage?

This. Freaking out about lasers on guns is some alarmist bullshit that I don't buy into. Don't look at the beam. I've been disappointed when night and indoor games haven't allowed them because I think it's silly suburban housewife nonsense that we're all going to come back from a game in the dark blind and suing each other.
