You're a hermit? And you live in the hills and hate society as a whole? I'm the same way. ;)
But when in doubt, you could place an order if you don't want to go out to find it.

Since this threads sticky already, I hope I'm not Necorposting or anything. But if you guys want some Silicone Spray, I got some of mine from Walmart in Troutdale.

Well, I would try to be wary of Walmart brand unless it is proven by other people. Or you. Neat to know it's sold at walmart though!

Knuckles - I think you should clarify whether you mean on the inside of the gun or the outside.

Do not use WD-40 on ANY PART of your airsoft replica; inside or out. Ever.

Look: you wipe down a real gun with oil so it will not rust. Your airsoft gun is made of pot metal, aluminum and plastic. It is not going to rust. There are parts that will rust on an airsoft gun (like screws and other connectors) but these areas are so small that they can be addressed individually instead of wiping the entire gun down in solvents.

The only thing you need to apply to your airsoft replica to keep it pretty is a little elbow grease. Wipe down the outside with a damp cloth when you're done with it for the day. Once there is no surface dirt left, THEN spray it with a SUPER LIGHT coat of silicone oil. Make sure you get it on the bolts and other steel bits that might rust. Wipe off any excess, make sure it's on safe, and stow your AEG replica with the knowledge that it will look and function like new when you need it next.

I wouldnt clean my metal body with wd-40 because it leaves stains in metal or at least aluminum and I know this because my boat is metal and I spilled wd-40 on there and the stain is still there after a year. :learn:

A warning to ALL of you:

Do not buy CRC brand silicon oil.

I purchased a can around a year ago and I recently found that it is reacting to ABS plastic. By reacting I mean dissolving. I don't know what caused this sudden change because it worked fine for months and now it is like an acid that only eats ABS plastic. I sprayed some of the silicon into a ziplock bag and put in some bb's. The bb's melted and formed an ABS cake. A drop also landed on my UTG shotgun and left a stain. This stuff also dissolved my two UTG shotgun shells.

I will post video footage of the bb's soon. (You can see them dissolving like Alka Seltzer.)

They dissolved that fast? Not like time-lapse, but within a few minutes? That's kinda cool and horrible at the same time.

I just wanted to say Knuckles that my SRC AK ended up getting rust (not a lot just minor) on the body. know I have replaced this part (when I switched to a side folding stock) and I don't want it to rust. know whats the best way to keep the body from rusting if WD40 is out?

Krylon, Testors Dullcote, or a good coating of silicone oil.

Also, an AK with no rust is like peanut butter with no jelly.
