WD 40 ( water displacement formula #40) has a very good penetrating property and will creep into just about anything. Example: deputies using it to clean guns (works good) but the residue penetrates into primers of .357 ammunition rendering duty ammo worthless (ouch) WD 40 is great for what it is designed for. That being said it is petroleum based and can mess up anything not compatible with it in addition to its penetrating properties. Good stuff....you bet. I have several cans sitting in my shop right next to silicone and other based lubricants. Use WD at your own risk on airsoft

be careful also with the white lithium grease. if you use it while it is hot and then whatever you used it on gets cold. if will gum up whatever you sprayed it on. my friend did this to a few of his m4 mid caps and it was a totally shitstorm to clean out

What about using contact cleaner spray cans for cleaning?
