The new ICS AEG's (ICS MP5 Version 4, ICS M4 R.A.S. Anniversary Edition, 2007 model ICS Armalites, ICS AK-74 Version 3.5) have metal bushings.

Great guide, helped me to understand a lot more about airsoft guns, and what ever thing does. Also to bring quite a bit of information on how to upgrade for those of us that don't know much.

haha first time seeing this...Great work man. If I ever hear idiots asking any questions doing with Gearbox, I'll refer them to this. Again, Great work.

Thank you so much. Isn't strong springs the reason why many airsoft guns break down?

That's a pretty common cause, yes. Just like a faster engine may shorten the life of certain engine components, running the mechanics of a stronger spring can shorten the life of things like your piston, gears, and gearbox shell (to name a few).

So does the outer barrel effect anything? Because on my AUG it's metal on the part that you can see when it's assembled, but the part inside the gun is plastic.

Assuming you're talking about an Armalite, the Classic Army ones have a one-piece style that doesn't wobble. TM and others make a less durable three piece outer barrel that tightens down with set screws, and these screws aren't very good at holding on very tight, and you'll have a little play between your foregrip and upper receiver.

It doesn't affect anything inside the gearbox, though, if that's what you're asking.

On the AUG barrel wobble isn't an issue. No reason to replace the outer barrel on one of those.

Nice write-up Nocte, very impressive, if everyone applied the knowledge you just dropped then alot of stores would have to fire their techs.
