Well guys I had to leave the fun early. Rolled my ankle bad, I tryed hunting some more. Only for my ankle to get worse and worse. If I hadn't run after a few pansy in the pitch black woods ; ) I wouldn't have found myself getting my foot caught in a twisted branch on the ground. But I had a blast! Ivan I'm sorry about the comms, but we were awesome. I had a blast as always running with you in the woods. I hope we made the experience for the guys attending a blast! :D

Big thanks! to my teammate Variable, I had a blast man!

Good times. Loved it. Hate my POS gun, though. Luckily a teammate (Phoenix1421) brought a spare (yes his second) RPK. Excellent.

Great running with Imp and the rest of the pickup squad. We killed stuff.

Thanks for putting this on Tim! I had a blast and a half! Taught me a lot about what I'll need for camping out on a field with no tent or sleeping bag ;)

Looking forward to the next one!

Yep, that was a good run. Thanks for the work you guys put into this.
Next time I'll have to remember to have commo for each fireteam so I don't have to scream out the plan as I'm executing it...

My thoughts:
Overall I think the format worked well. It gave teams an opportunity to practice skills in a way that they don't get at skirmishes. It was a learning experience for everyone, including me.

What worked well:
-Using a few dedicated opfor to keep us on our toes (need more OPFOR next time)
-Using a command structure rather than trying to brief all individual players at once
-Limited ammo (never heard anyone phony pony about it. Also saw very controlled use of auto fire)
-Making sure minors had sponsors
-Ranger cuddles
-I saw only good sportsmanship

Things to improve on:
-I could have been better organized. I fouled up and wasn't on my A-game when gameday happened.
-An actual photo/video crew
-A better defined packing list for overnight gear
-Next time I won't go to war with the blackberry bushes ;)

Definitely a fun game, I'll just have to make sure to pack more cold weather kit for the night. God that was cold...

I am sore. Had a fun time as opfor though. And I agree the #1 thing we needed was more opfor.
Don't worry about it Switch. When you were on the field you did great. Take care of your ankle.

On behalf of Phantom Fury.....

We had a blast! Thanks for setting this up. I would like to see this happen again, but with more Opfor. The night fire watch was the funnest for us. Waking up every two hours to hunt an invisible Target was a blast. Your.mind starts to play tricks on you when your tired. I also would like to see some night patrols. Some long drawn out fire missions in absolute darkness would be epic. Thanks to Ivan and the Sta teams, you guys never gave up hope. Again Ivan you sneaking up on our camp just after sundown was priceless. Too bad you were on my good ear side, otherwise you would have got me for sure.

Again, good times and I love the mil sim. Great job!!!!

Thanks to Variable for putting the effort into the special game.
Not my favorite event ever (although I was only there for Saturday).
Walking around in the woods with extra gear which I thought would be dropped at base so that our large group could seek out a couple lone killers (who also weren't allowed to kill very many people) is not my idea of shooting people with toy guns in the woods.

I guess I'll stick to skirmishes.
Battle drills lacking a real objective make me sad. I guess it was all about refining my hopeless skills.
Silly milsim training.

Next time, let's do capture the flag!

This. Scared, it's kind of the point... ;)

I had fun though, even though my teammate ended up shoving his stuff in my pack to carry the extra weight... But I was smart enough (surprisingly) to bring a quilt for sleeping in that really paid off in the end. Ended early for me due to a gun malfunction that still makes no sense to me but I'll get it sorted out eventually.

I liked that I wasn't on a schedule to dig my fighting position. But then it wasn't connected to my battle buddy's in the back and I became sad. Then Gir Mumky showed up and made a a fighting slit trench and just stuck his a$$ into it and covered himself with hay so I felt better.

Sustains:
Everyone had good sportsmanship and followed orders. We had really silly rules at the fire base and we still followed them (30 minute patrols? 2 man patrols trying to find a 3 man element in the woods, in 30 minutes?!). Very mil-sim on that part of "Don't look at me, those are the orders"

It was mil-sim without trying to do any one specific military theme. You had guys there in full multicam and ACH helmets next to guys in solid OD with WW2 gear on next to guys in jeans and T shirts and everyone was doing mil-sim without the pretentious stuff that usually attaches to mil-sim. I like that it was about mil-sim not a specific military in general.

I almost didn't show. I woke up at 2pm after watching movies and drinking beer all night with Scythe and couldn't find the glowsticks that I said I was going to bring so I felt bad and CAG wasn't really planning a huge showing. But I threw together some gear and showed up with Phoenix1421 and joined the pickup squad and had a blast. I enjoyed meeting new people and playing around with an RPK and carrying minimal gear. Also the weather was a bit cold but I think the poncho liner + survival blanket was *just enough* for the cold.

Improves:
More inclusion of LANDNAV and stretch out the time by giving more complete OPORDs before each mission and letting each group figure out their method or path to achieve that goal. Especially using LANDNAV and compass (or GPS depending on what mil-sim you're doing) to get to those points. It was good on Sunday when we were given grids and then went there and had the objective.

I brought a whole bunch of milk-based Starbucks energy/coffee drinks and forgot that I was lactose intolerant. It was a very gassy overnight game. I liked it. I don't think pickup squad did, though.

Also:
I don't know about packing lists needing to be longer. I think what the TFS guys bring will be the Ranger Grey marshmellow suits for cold combined with 3 piece sleep systems or just woobies whereas the Fragistan guys would bring WW2 woold blankets and cook beans. I think it worked.

Fantastic, I had a blast. That was unlike any other game i have been to. Great change from shooting zombies / taliban / infected super ninja kiddies.

Favorite parts:
Working together as a squad practicing squad movement.
Following stupid orders for no reason. Never hearing any complaints.
The milky way, meteors, satellites and Jupiter in the low south.
"CONTACT!" at 3 am.
300 round limit, I used a lot of semi.
Freezing my a$$ off in August.

Improvements / suggestions:
- Take this brief case to sector blah blah.
- Go to sector blah blah and recover the brief case.
- Escort this VIP to the trucks and back.
- More tactical training
- 2 hour patrols

Hope you do this again, I would like to try OPFOR next time. Thanks Variable, STA and everyone else.
