I sure hope you could hit a torso at 60 feet.

Would a TM VSR10 spring fit in an R700?
What equipment do i need to custom-cut an inner barrel?

You could actually, I can hit a torso sized target easy w/ my E1 mp5k from 135'

On another note, if this is your first VSR build, your going to have alot of reading and research to do. Yes a VSR spring should fit in an R700, but there shouldn't be a need. To cut the barrel, you would need a hack saw and you will need a special drill bit to crown it.

Shoot me a PM and I'll hook you up with some links that will help your build.

I won't be doing the build for a month or two, but I'll ask you for those links when I do thank you.
and the question about the VSR10 spring was because they seem to be the only ones on GI that can bring a sniper under 400 FPS, i'd like to bring it down to about 380, to add a bit of safety to a bolt platform i plan on extensively using back and forth between 15 and 25 yards.
Also, to help facilitate this project i may just use the shortest bolt-action rifle I can find
forgive my ignorance, it happens to everyone.

It has been proven time and time again that the length of a barrel in an airsoft gun will only effect accuracy in a very insignificant increment.

KA-BAR - Nice Build!! I freaken LOVE originality as far as Airsoft guns are concerned...

thanks man. internally this gun is still bone stock. its hitting shit out to 70 yarsds pretty consistant @430 FPS with .20's.

only thing ill do is get a TB, cut the air brake, teflon seal it up, and maybe bore out and bell out the nozzle.

all that should get me to 480fps with a .20. perfect for a DMR using .25s.

thats the plan anyways.

barrel swab. compression and internals check. tighten all screws. make sure hop up is seated propperly.

fin.

it sill hooks a lil from shot to shot. but it is over all very consistant. and that is the most important thing. with a TB this rifle will be awsome for its intended role.

from 0 to 60 yards this thing is laser strait even with .20's. once it starts to lose velocity and energy at about 70-75 yards its just drifting the last 10 yards and drops drasticly. 80 yards is this rifles max range.

Damn, I can't even do that with my TM G-spec, I cannot figure out how to get it shooting strait. I cannot figure out what I am missing. Even at 135 feet I'm getting the occasional flyer with the hop shimmed.

sure kid. its called a LER optic. it is made to be set that far forward. if you do a google search, or just read a lil more closely the article i provided, it will tell you exactly why forward mounted LER optics are used on this type of bolt action rifle set up.

Sorry if this was answered in the original post, but quick question for KA-BAR: How does a scout's role compare (airsoft-wise) to that of a designated sniper? Or are they pretty much the same? I could see this role paying off well for someone who was skilled in being a sneaky bastard and knew how to communicate well with others/command elements.

this is a DMR's rifle....yes. this is not designed to ghillie up and sit in a bush ...this is designed to be with a squad, providing accurate fire where needed.

Thank you for clearing that up.

Definitely an interesting concept though, I'll be checking back often.
