Beyond my knowledge

Postby Munky » Mon Sep 23, 2013 10:40 pm

Hey all. I swapped the piston sear in my VSR10 which took it from the sear not catching at all, too just barely catching on the piston. Or at least I assume. Do I need to change the piston or rotate it a bit? I saw the adjustment screws on the box and wondered if they're for fine tuning or possible problem area?

Thanks for your time.

There is a part on the piston that catches the trigger sear. It must be rotated properly to catch on the sear. Check for wear in the trigger group as well.
I'm the osiris of this.

i have not yet. ive only replaced the piston sear with a lower quality one that appears to be mildly worn but again has given the rifle slam firing instead of just nothing

Make sure the screws holding the trigger box I the receiver are tight. This is the number one reasons for slam firing. Than check that the trigger adjustment screw on the trigger side of the firing mechanism is screwed in. This is the sear adjustment screw and if to light can cause slam firing.

Check those and get back to me.

Plastic piston? That might be worn down to the point it won't catch.

lip on your piston is gone. get a new piston, preferably metal with a 90 degree lip.

Morgan I've been using 45 degree sears and pistons with no problem... Although I'm shooting 430 w/.20s.

oh ok, i thought this was for a 500+ gun.

my scout rifle ( MB03?) is all stock and the piston in it is also a 45 degree lip.

when i upgraded the TSDM700 i put a aluminum piston with a 90 degree lip into it with the stock sears. worked awesome.
