Replica sordins (or other high end headset)

Postby Darius137 » Thu Nov 17, 2011 2:58 am

I see a lot of people these days with Sordins or other headsets that cover the entire ear and also provide amplified sound.

I was wondering if they were replicas, or you all had Mossy powers on eBay and found them for a hundred bucks.

Also, what sort of quality sound they produce, what radio types they're compatible with, etc.

Mine are real. I don't consider $160 (retail) too bad for them... They're pretty nice. Well worth it over the ACM ones in my opinion, the sound is much clearer.

Mine are TCI LIB IIs which are basically more fancy Sordins. From what I've heard about the chinky ones, get the real ones. I think Braddock's set broke but I could be wrong. Remember the chinky headsets don't work with real PTTs and vice versa.

I tried out PacMans'. They seemed interesting, but he mentioned standing in the field at Camp R&R that the noise from the creek was overpowering.

I was able to score some real Dual comms for $100 at the surplus stores up here, so it's just a matter of finding the right price at the right time.

Sordins (or I should say "MSA" Sordins) are all over the place now for very affordable prices due to the newer competing brand versions coming out from Peltor..etc.

Dan, just get some real ones.

Dan,

I second Unconventional. Get real ones. I just picked up a pair of Sordin Dual comms from Riddick and they're awesome.

Now all I need is some U94 PTTs to MBITR cables. Anyone selling some?

Quick question about those dual-comm Sordins: since they have only one mic but 2 downleads, does that mean you can hear 2 radios but only respond with one?
