ICOM F4TR Programming help

Postby Ash » Tue Feb 07, 2012 4:46 pm

I recently bought 3 used Icom F4TR's and new copy of the programming software, from separate people, and I can't get the software to link up with the radios.

I have a cable that I know works, and my computer comm port is set up already since I program my ICOM F21's with it.

Is there anyone out there that can either program them for me or show me what if anything I am doing wrong.

Are you using a serial cord or USB?

It might be you're operating system. I've found icom software labeled it will work with windows fail on windows 7 because a lot of the icom stuff is DOS based and the newer version of windows removed the DOS integration. If this is the case you might get away using an emulator.

I work for Day Wireless, and I know we can program icom radios. If you know how you want them programmed I could probably talk one of my techs into programming them for you.

Also I believe that in that software you have to specify what port to use in the drop down menu. By default it will want to use the serial port so you have to make sure to tell it to use the USB port.

Are you using a 32bit OS or a 64bit OS? The programming software for my Icom F-4001 only runs on a 32bit OS, so I have to keep an old notebook around just for the radio.

Make sure your USB adapter is set to the proper COM port you are selecting in the program. You can do this in the Device Manager.

The root problem is that the radios have firmware version 1.3 and the coms software we have is 1.6. . working with a vendor to get Factory Tech password in order to upgrade Firmware to 1.6 so we can get them programmed. . . we'll see where we go with this. . . o_O
