Budget radio/headset combo

Postby God » Sun Mar 11, 2012 8:38 pm

I am looking to buy a set of radio and headset(that can be worn with either a boonie hat, helmet, or baseball cap) and would preferably be activated by NOT having to pull the radio out of its pocket.

When you say "radio", what are you talking about? What kind of radio? Most people mean FRS, but we also have people in the community that use Tri-Square (Truly their own system), Land Mobile, Business, CB? (Do we have anyone that actually uses CB?), Amateur, and I think some MURS (Multiple-Use Radio System). In those groupings are different price ranges. Each grouping also has its pro's and con's as far as performance. Please, decide what SYSTEM you will use before doing anything else.

After deciding which radio model you're going to buy, you can start looking at headsets, because you will know what kind of connector the unit uses.

It is common knowledge.

I got the step down from what Jester suggested:

http://www.rei.com/product/801283/midla ... ios-2-pack

I went if 50:50 with a friend of mine and they work great. The headset is a little uncomfortable when you wear them for a long time (>6hrs). But other than that, they are small and pack enough of a punch for airsofting needs, they were a great buy.

I think he/she was saying that if you shop at REI, you will not find budget products. Then he/she gave his personal testament that all the products he/she's purchased from REI have not shown any wear on them over the course of his/her owning them.

That would be because you didn't buy a used product.
