Left-handed headset

Postby Orwell » Wed May 30, 2012 4:23 am

I'm all for fancy military-style headsets, and I've read pretty much everything there is to read on this website about Sordin's and Pantech's. I've read the first five or six of the fourteen pages of search info for "left handed" because "left-handed headset" and "left-handed" returned nothing.

So here we go! I'd like any information about left hand headsets (where the mouthpiece sits over the right cheek). Preferably reproductions (140 is a lot of dollars for a radio that costs 20!), but I'll hear all sides. :) Thanks, guys, for the wealth of information you often provide!

I picked up this frogman headset that was very reasonable, it works great.. clear sound and no problems at all.

The pic even shows it in lefty-shooter configuration. Since I've never used this model Frogman headset (I used the older Z-Tactical ones) I can't vouch for the veracity of being swappable. For the price though it seems worth a shot.

New version. Looks like the mic is screwed on at the headset, so I would think it's as simple as just screwing around...

HartThrob, if you do pick them up I'd love to know of the boom mic is truly swappable.

Update: Found the same headset and PTT adaptor on another site. If I pay $40, I'll get them in 2-4 weeks. If I pay 53, I'll get them in 2-4 days. O'course, I have to wait until a week from Tuesday before I can do either. ^^;

I'll keep you guys posted.

I would seriously think about getting a throat mic to be honest for a couple reasons (and this is coming from a left handed shooter):

1)Don't have to worry about trying to find a left handed mic

2)mesh masks, when I was using a mic, I had the problem of trying to get the mic over the mesh mask and no one could hear me, so it was either remove the mask and risk my teeth (I kinda like having all my teeth, I may be a redneck, but I am not stupid), or leave the mask on and risk someone not hearing me.

Thank you. I'll keep that in mind! :) I'm considering a cloth mouth cover. We'll see.
