There are two main problems with safety kills indoors, or at least two situations where they become problematic.
#1: They take too long. It takes two to three seconds to call a safety kill. It takes a fraction of a second to bring a weapon on target and shoot someone. So, when two guys end up going head to head in a small space, it generally doesn't work. Either somebody shoots anyway, or both guys end up trying to call the other one out, which leads to bickering about who would have shot whom way more often than it should.
#2: People try to call safety kills when they are hiding in cover and hear someone on the other side of their cover moving up. Generally speaking, if I know somebody is in cover, I have the advantage. I get to pick when I come around the corner, how fast and at what vector I cut the pie, and what part(s) of me is exposed where when I do come around the corner. Safety kills should require that the person calling them has the drop on the other guy, and if you are cowering in the corner, you've got nothing. Now, they can try to turn the tables and pop out on me as I move up, and that is a horse of an entirely different color. But calling a safety kill when you are hiding is just bullshit.
