the bolt pull between the two? if im not mistaken, the tanaka is a gas rifle and the bolt pull is non existant. the mk96 is a spring gun, and it does have a spring bolt. despite its power, it really isnt that much

I wouldn't buy it ether.

If you want to buy a L96 replica without spending too much money get the UTG MK96
if you want an l96 that you can turn into a serious sniping machine, get the maruzen type 96. but be ready spend some dough to get it up to shape.

( I ended up buying used Maruzen L96 and I am building a hybrid)

did you happen to open up the hop up on yours maxx? i mean, i have an mp001 that used to have a similar problem but i opened the chamber, wrapped the end of the barrel, the adaptor and the bucking with teflon tape and then moved the tape around a little to get it to shoot consistantly. im gonna buy my friend's and see if i can tweek it so

Maxximo...hmmmm.

I had this rifle apart a couple months ago, you're the type of person that will figure out everything sooner or later because you stick with it until you win. I also found that the range was ok untill I tried to shoot at things over 120 ft away. Lighter bb's just were nuts, nearly impossible to dial in.

So-

By now you've probably noticed that the inner barrel moves slightly inside the outbarrel, with the magazine out. Unscrewing the magazine catch/lever screw (1) and rotating the inner barrel so that the hop-up cut out is parallel to the magazine catch/lever, will help the bb's from firing to the left. I had the same problem, just that they went to the right instead. You'll have to do this with the inner barrel removed, unless you're slightly clever, which I know you are. I used TM .30gram (Superior Grade - laughing) type bb's in my testing. I believe that changing out the hop-up rubber will do this rifle some serious good, which I did not have a chance to do.

Also, try using some leak stop or some light grade loc-tite (purple) on the hop up screw, it's just too easy to turn in my oppinion. Anybody willing to work on this rifle could get it to shoot realy well. Maruzen upgrade parts are going to cost the same anyways, it's too bad we can't just buy the stock, receiver and outer barrel from China and everything else from Laylax.

Good times.

Good luck Maximmo, I think the end result will be good.

Exactly, I even have the same problem in my Maruzen L96 as well, I considered super gluing the Hop up in place from the frustration. I have not taken my hopup out yet to miss with it.

on that Note, I can confirm that maruzen parts and the UTG parts are 99.9% exchangeable. Right now I have UTG cylinder with laylax upgrades in the maruzen body with the maruzen Trigger system :D
