Batterries for Surefire Scout lights

Postby Darius137 » Tue Mar 01, 2011 2:07 am

I have a Surefire Scout Light M600C weapon-mounted light and I can't seem to fit the CR123A batteries into it.

I thought I had the wrong batteries, but the CR123A battery listed for the scout fits into my PentagonLight MS2 weapon-mounted light. Well, technically it's listing "123A" batteries for the scout light, but after googling around, I figured it just meant that they weren't rechargeable, or lithium, or surefire wants to sell me batteries in a monogamous relationship.

I'm wondering, is there a difference between specficially Surefire 123A and regular CR123A batteries? I'm guessing I'll have to get specific batteries from Surefire, but I'd prefer the option of last minute running to the store.

I've used several no-name brands of 123a's in my 6P, never had this issue. Have you tried any other brands of 123a's other than what you have?

CR123 batteries are all the same, last I knew.

Pick up two surefire brand batteries for four (Five?) dollars at Lowes, hanging by the cash registers. REI also sells a pack of 12(?) for fourteen bucks.

They're really good batteries, and are still cheaper than the Energizer/etc counterparts.

yeah, last i checked CR123As were pretty universal. i used the surefire ones that came with my 636 until they died, and then i put some regular ones in. i think the brand was titanium. both sets worked equally well.

I have a CR123A that fits into my PentagonLight and it is definitely too large for the Scout Light.

The 123A is pretty universal, until now. My other surefire light even uses it. I'm guessing either I'm an idiot or it shrank in the wash, but the Scout is a very thin light.

Are the batteries re-chargeable ones? From what I have read they are slightly bigger than the non rechargeable ones and will not fit in certain surefire models but fit fine in other surefire models.

The difference in the space in every other 123A battery compartment and the Scout Light are noticeably different.

I will take the light to a store and size them up next to battery lights. I do remember taking out surefire batteries. I'm kicking myself for not keeping them or noticing what they were. I had assumed they were the regular taclight batteries.

Insert batteries through the top by removing the lamp assembly.

I've always bought my 123s through US Tactical Supply, they're a hell of a lot cheaper than Duracell/Energizer.

I have used all manner of 123s in my Scout lights...I dont want to make you seem like an idiot - but have you tried putting the batteries in on both sides of the housing? On the Scout the batteries insert on the head side, not on the tail switch side...

Dan, the 123s are pretty much all the same with this difference. The surefire ones are quite a bit cheaper than copper tops etc...I buy em 12 at a time for sub $2

http://www.surefire.com/12-Pack-Batteries

21$ for 12 from surefire, probably cheaper if you shop around

I probably am an idiot.

But the actual storage area is just so small compared to the other one.

Yes, I'll go with idiot.

Okay, I tried it. 123a batteries fit in the front. I am confirmed idiot.
