Was he? I thought the caption said he was a Ranger.

EDIT: Check that, he's a JTAC.

I'm curious what that pistol on the ground is.

Army, here's the caption-

"Army Staff Sgt. Matthew Cook, left, a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) instructor from the 75th Ranger Regiment (RR) and Army 1st Lieutenant Mark Faldowski, a fire support officer, both from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., look out over Razorback Range located at Fort Chaffee maneuver training center while communicating target information to A-10 Thunderbolt IIs flying overhead during a training exercise June 6, 2012. The 188th Fighter Wing, Ft. Smith Air National Guard, hosted a week long Special Operations Exercise (SOFEX) with the 75th RR supported by an AC-130U Spooky gunship from Hurlburt Field, Fla. Nearing its second deployment to Afghanistan with the A-10, the 188th regularly conducts training with JTACs from different branches of service to sharpen its close air support mission.(U.S. Air Force photo by MSgt Ben Bloker)"

Some notes: OpsCore FASTs and Crye G3s are being used by the 75th, now.

What camo is that guy on the right sporting? Looks kind of like Afghan's pattern in MultiCam colors.

Just noticed what could be the SFB in a couple of the above pics...confirmation?

No idea what the date on this photo is. If I recall, they had some Mk 16's go into circulation before they cut the program?

They're worn a lot in the two field uniforms but you don't really see them worn with CRYEs much because you're allowed to wear hikers from the regimental boot menu. Also, they're wearing those mesh multicam covers on the opscores and maybe two or three guys per company have ifaks on their kit and not their belt.

Guys that have been around mix and match their RLCS and SFLCS and still roll their PCU 5s. Good thread but the recent stuff is outdated.

Sorry. I still look around for pics because they give me a stiffy, so I guess that makes me gay.

But, I did find a few hundred recently that are now on my laptop, I'll upload them to a Photobucket album tomorrow and link it here.
