Bond, not to sound like a tool or anything, but that just doesn't look very convincing. I would recommend putting some aluminum sheeting on the front and spray painting that flat black. That way it doesn't just look like some plywood with paint on it.

Plus, it'll look alot better with the sheeting bolted on the shield. Here's an example of the Pedonidas shield up close.

Another example after all the painting was said and done.

I noticed a chip in the acrylic, have you tested the impact resistance? Not that it needs to be considering you won't be using it as your eye protection, I'm just curious.

My only critique is I would have mounted the acrylic on the other side. But that's just a personal preference and it's not my shield.

I too hope you mean CQC when you say battlefield. :p

The chip in the acrylic was from the drill. I pressed to hard, and the corner snapped off... :(

Impact Tests were performed, and after a 5 second burst on full auto about 3" away with my 320fps CQC gun, not a single blemish was visible! That satisfies me.

As for Renagade's suggestion to use metal sheeting: I certainly did consider it, but I decided it would take too much time, and I just wanted a simple shield that would work for CQC. Cosmetics was not a high priority. Although the Pedonitas shield looks great! :D Kudos for taking the time to bolt all that sheeting.

Actually, the acrylic being mounted on the front is growing on me, considering it would logically be more structurally sound considering the direction of impact.

Try putting some flood lights on it?

Haha, good idea, but I'll probably only use it in the day.

No, it says what you use it for.

Mobile shield for temporary check points

And why exactly do you need a ballistic shield?

Shields are good for times such as this:

Even if you are only using it in the day, lights on shields serve two purposes. First is illumination, second is blinding and disorienting suspects. It is harder to shoot at somebody with lights shining in your eyes. Your ultimate design is, however, up to you.

I love how people are arguing the usefulness of this. It seems as useful as a grenade launcher. Only used up close and its not really something you need, but something you that makes you feel bad a$$ if you have.

Good job putting it together though, how would you activate the flood lights though. a light switch on the other side?
