That's not a Mk. 18, then. A Mk. 18 has a 10 in. barrel and a rail system that's shorter than the barrel, typically 9.5in. Those are the only absolute requirements. Read the article Diegunner posted. It's fantastic.
You're not building a Mk. 18 at this point, you're building an M4. That's nothing to be ashamed of. Just call it what it is.

Orwell your wrong. What he is wanting to build is a mk18 block2. There are many variants of mk18s.
