New Classifieds System

Am I missing something or is there no search feature for the classifieds section?

Remember that you can post comments in the ads to ask questions. PMs work as well, but the (relevant, sales-related) discussion of the products for sale can still happen in a format that's viewable by everyone.

We've got a good number of ads and zero comments on any of them, so it seems like folks might not know this is a feature.

personally so far i prefer the old system. i used to see stuff on the recent posts screen that i would have otherwise never have noticed. now i have to go and actively search out items instead of seeing a post where someone is selling something i want and going "oh! ive been looking for one of those!" while i am doing my regular AP surfing.

Seconded. New arms deals no longer catch my attention, and this is somewhat annoying.

Yeah, that's one drawback to going with a separate system rather than having everything in the forums. You gotta be in the shopping mode.

i imagine the volume of sales and buyers is going to go way down. its the classic "out of sight, out of mind" mentality. people dont see these new ads unless they are actively looking for them, and therefore there are less buyers to complete transactions. is there any kind of way to make them still show up as posts so people will be more able to see them and easily see whats up for sale? or is it just pointless to have the new system at that point, since its just like the old?

Or just a link for new classified ads since your last visit on the main page would be good.

And as Riddick mentioned, it'd be nice to be able to use the bold/etc. tags in the additional information section.

If those two features and a search option were added, I'd really like this system.

Adding a "Classified Ads since your last visit" link would probably be easy.

I'm also thinking about adding a search "Classified Ads" option on the top search box.

Maybe a "recent ads" box somewhere on the homepage would be good too.

What if you make it so that when a classified is posted it automatically makes a topic in Arms Deals with the same general content and a link to the add, that would solve the problem.

Or you can leave it like it is so that Beran stops buying shit and can buy food.
