Systema M4A1 PTWS Review

Postby Matt » Tue Jan 10, 2006 10:27 pm

Many of you noticed that I recently evaluated a Systema Professional Training Weapon System (PTWS). Well, my 45 days is up and the verdict is in. Check out the Systema M4A1 review here. All in all, I found this to be one of the most durable AEGs I've ever used on the field, I just wish it had a little bit more range. Anyway, check out the review for the full scoop.

Might want to add that the current magazines can be over-filled, resulting in jamming. That's the only issue I had when I field-tested a Systema M16A2. I actually found the M16 to be quite accurate, even with the 6.1mm barrel.

The tinker-er in me KNOWS that I can take care of the 6.1mm barrel issue *nods* IF it really is an issue. I have seen zero-rance/accuracy issue (accuracy is good enough for my satisfaction when i have test-fired troys rifles. However, WHEN i have one of my own, I will have ALOT more personal experience.

For the Record - I am presently saving my money for a systema M4 with 3 round burst trigger group.

Then we'll see how far this platform can really be pushed . . . . . *day-dreaming about spare upper-recievers to swap setups, short-barreled versions with grenade launchers, lasers, suppressors, and a host of other gucci gear*

Yeah, I would love to see an accurate barrel as well.

Maybe in a few years, when I can afford one. Hopefully by then the bolt catch issue will be fixed.

If for nothing else than three round burst I would want one.

I will say this, the one thing that impressed me the most when I test fired one of these babies was the smoothness of the action and how it triggerd. Matt, your review is outstanding and professional. Well done. Troy, these weapons systems are outstanding and I applaud you for pushing this product in the fashion you have. Well done. Now... I wonder who I can jack body organs out of to pay for this....

Being new to airsoft, I'm taking my time before buying my first AEG to actually read the forums regarding the different models and manufacturers available. I'm also spending a lot of time looking at various shops to determine who has the best pricing and who is best for custom alterations and upgrades.

From what I've seen so far, there is no other AEG that I want more than the Systema M4A1. And although there seem to be some issues with the weapon at this time, I still feel that it's the best choice available. Realism and function is my most important interest, and Systema appears to meet my requirements.

This review was well-written, and took all aspects of the weapon into consideration. It shows both the positive and (dare I say?) negative aspects of this weapon system, as well as point out some possible methods to assist in future correction of the negative points. Overall I have to say this is a top-notch review, written by someone who obviously has a lot of experience in airsoft. Good job.

Ninja2dan, you're new to airsoft and you're already thinking about getting a Systema M4A1!? Wow, do what you want, but I would start out with a couple springers...

I'll be getting a Classic Army M15A4 model first, something to use until I can afford the Systema in a few months. Plus by that time they will have hopefully fixed a few issues and maybe come up with some exciting improvements. I don't plan to buy a cheap AEG that's going to break in a month, and I would prefer something that will feel "real" to me. Having been so used to the real steel M-16/M-4 series, I'm sure the Systema will be natural in my arms. A coworker showed me his CA M15A4, and although not "perfect", it felt quite nice for being an airsoft rifle and not real steel.

If you want the best, Systema seems to be the only company that fills that order.
