CQC7 Part 1: Club Scenario Live

Postby Matt » Mon Feb 14, 2011 11:07 pm

It's not a joke. You won't find Rick Astley anywhere near this, I swear. We have actually posted the first of 3 highlight reels from the Close Quarters Combat 7 event - the club scenario! I'd like to thank Ryan "Rico" Summers for lighting a fire under my rump and undergoing the tedious process of reviewing all of the footage and editing this. Nobody knows the story quite like Ryan, he wrote it, so I guess that makes him perfect for the job. As his editing debut on AP event videos, I think he did excellent work!

This particular scenario was very challenging to our camera crew. Mind you, we don't design our scenarios for cameras, we design them for the players. In this extremely low light environment with blaring music, it's hard to get anything close to a film quality shot with good sound - but the guys did an excellent job. Thanks Aaron, Allen and Tim for putting up with my crazy event and agreeing to help shoot it.

Ryan is already started on Part 2: the kidnapping scenario, starring Patrick Campaign and the Professional Airsoft Hostage, Carrie Graham. Finally we'll finish things up with the drug bust scenario. And yes, for those teams who wanted footage, after we finish tearing through all of this footage everything is neatly labeled so we can go back in and combine footage for teams to peruse for review of their tactical performance.

We're continuing our efforts to plan CQC8, but as you all know, if we can't find a venue that's "good enough" for a CQC competition... we won't host one. There's a lot of places out there that don't cut the mustard, but there's also a lot of amazing spots we have found but of course there's always the long process of getting that magical permission. In time folks, we will host it, and you will come. (That's not meant to be a pun, but whatever)

Enjoy the video!

Its too bad my personal highlight of that scenario was not on there...me getting bitched out by one of the strippers for chucking glowsticks at them.

It seemed like a good idea at the time. :D

I was kind of expecting with the Team America section to have it showing me bleeding all over the place. Damn that flashlight to the face hurt.

Really, though: Thanks a lot. It's over a year and a half later, but it's as awesome as I could have wanted it to be.
