I don't see replacing airsoft or paintball for that matter much in the same way Arcade games like simulation racing and arcade Gun shooters won't replace racing hobbists and target shooting enthusiast. Really I think the opposite will happen as it will serve as a nice stepping stone much like video games today. Countless people wouldn't have gotten into airsoft if it weren't for games. Tokyo Marui's first AEG the F1 FAMAS was made because it was the weapon used by Snake from the game Metal Gear Solid and while a lot of us main groan when they do it new players will often refer to airsoft guns as by there in game name rather than the real world name.
So I'm not really worried airsoft will go away at least from this but even if it does end up pulling a lot of players I'll be ok as it looks like it could be a lot of fun.
