What holds you back from doing WWII Airsoft?

Discussion of Airsoft use for re-enactment, WWII/WWI airsoft, Vietnam and more.

what holds most back are the picky people that assume everything needs to be 100%. with less picky people most of us can afford a impression though the impression wont be exact it will bring new players who then can then build on said impression to be maybe 80%.

When you spend $500 for the proper impression, it kills it when you see guys running around with the wrong stuff.

Just saying.

your impression doesnt allways have to be 100% WWII airsoft is alittle more laid back when it comes to impressions and there are some things you can substitute like boots and pants but the core things that make a load out like web gear and a proper top are what makes the load out.
but when it comes to blankfire, people are pretty picky with what type of gear youre using

I have no problem buying correct impression but some people do. thats thats why i said that, and i don't mean using 70's era hbts and burlap wrapped M4's I just want to make sure airsoft doesn't become as picky as blank fire. :D

You guys do know that german soldiers were not allowed to join political patrys right. On another note i am really thinking of getting a German loadout(impression), with either and mp40 or and stg44

There was only one political party and they swore loyalty to it's leader. So your statement is moot, Necromonger.

It's also a killer to spend $500 on the proper impression and have nobody else around who can afford the proper impression.

I think starting off with games based on a "good enough" policy, or even periods or places that had cheap impressions would be nice.

You can get a full Russian impression for maybe $100 after shipping. You can get a very knock off WW2 uniform of US or German for less than $200.

Of course, you'll see a lot of Thompsons and Mp44's, but we'll have to deal with that until a cheap bolt alternative comes for either side.

Exactly, I wish that the people who did events would have the same mind set. For example I put togther a German impression for ~120$. The only thing that is acurate is my Mp40 mag pouches, M43 cap and breadbag. The rest of the uniform is all post war. Sure it's not perfect and I know that, but on the battlefield no one will care.

Swearing loyalty to Hitler didn't make anyone a national socialist... either way people shouldn't care if german uniforms will have swastikas or anything, it doesn't physicaly hurt you or say anything like that, its just all for fun

The German soldier was not allowed to join the Nazi Party (there were still other political parties in Germany even after Hitler became Chancellor). Hitler and the Reichswehr made a lot of concessions to each other. One of them was to change the soldier's oath of swearing loyalty to Germany to swearing loyalty to Hitler. It certainly did rankle the older officers and enlisted men but one must remember it was the Nazi Party that threw out the Treaty of Versailles and rebuilt the military. Thus, before the war and early war Hitler was a popular figure within the Wermacht.

Anyhow, I still think we should get a 'close enough' plan together to get some WW2 themed games going. It doesn't need to be traditional 'blank fire' authentic, but close enough for the feel of it.

It doesn't cost that much for a reasonable impression. Summer or temperate impressions are also the cheapest.

Very true.It shouldnt matter at all as long as its close enough. If everyone had to get authentic or repro gear there would be a little less WWII airsofters. Its been said a million times you gotta start somewhere even if its East German or West German stuff you can add on to it in the future.
