What holds you back from doing WWII Airsoft?

What holds you back from doing WWII Airsoft?

Postby Pope_Alex_Kaeda_I » Thu Jan 08, 2009 10:26 pm

If you're not interested in WWII Airsoft, I really don't want to hear from you

Its a pretty simple question. What is it that holds you back from doing WWII airsoft?

Are you concerned about a lack of WWII Games in the area?

Are you concerned about the cost of enough WWII kit to play?

What is it that holds you back from taking the plunge?

It's mostly the expense of the kit. I can't even get my normal kit up to where I want it without sacrificing a month or two of pay. And period stuff is even worse, and hard to find, generally.

Not to mention everyone else seems to have the same problem, so games don't happen often enough to warrant spending all the money.

+1

For a long time I was looking into WWII reenacting, but I honestly cannot afford the kit. When I do something, I do it right, so a full WWII kit is something I won't be doing until I win the lotto, or am 40 years old.

The same thing applies to airsoft, and the lack of games makes it even worse. If games popped up, I could borrow the kit I need from friends, but I'm not going to buy it anytime soon.

Lately, however, I've been getting more and more into modern combat, and honestly I'd take that any day over WWII. I have far less interest in old gear anymore...

I would love to do some WWII re-enactments but it is really expensive, and there is lots of little nit picking things, I just love to play.

games, cost of gear, the low availability of era AEG's at affordable prices.

otherwise, I'd ONLY play ww2.

Well, it is a circular argument. There are no games so people don't want to buy any kit... but the reason why there are no games is because nobody has bought any kit in the first place. Everybody says its really expensive, but how much did your current gear cost? It all comes down to how badly do you want to do it...

I do plan on building up one or two WWII impressions because A) I'm a military history buff and the equipment appeals anyways and B) I'm the type of person who, when I get a wild hair up my a$$ to do something I just do it. If it then involves travelling to an event out of state I make preparations to do so. I do the same for paintball.

Really, if a few of you have been thinking about WWII let's all just sit down, hash out a theme and do it. Nothing will happen until some of us take the plunge.

Myself, I plan on doing a British sniper impression and either a British commando or US infantry.

I'm one for doing things 100%.

I don't have the money for a perfect WWII kit.

So I don't bother trying. :D

This is precisely why I started this thread. If I can find out everyones objections, I can work on overcoming those objections.

Personally, i only need a couple things for my WWII German Airsoft kit, and Thompson for my WWII British/Canadian kit.

if I "saved" up and waited on a STG 44 to come out, I'd contemplate on the kit, already have the canteens and bandoleers etc if I wanted to be a rifleman, if they had a solid K98, then it'd be good seeing as I have the kit for the real thing...from Nazi germany that is

Too expensive and I agree with the nit-picking statement. I would be fine with using a Thompson, but Garands are expensive and anything other than Thompsons and Garands are rare or custom. And the lack of games is a turn off too.
