Soviet Naval Infantry Uniform

Postby Charlie » Sun Jan 31, 2010 8:14 pm

Hey, everybody.
I'm looking for a uniform (reproduction because it's cheaper) of the Soviet Naval Infantry. I've looked around, and it's been a little harder than I thought to find something that resembles there uniforms. Anybody know where to find such gear?

Thanks!

You'll likely have to order from eastern Europe. There's a lot of Ukrainian dealers out there that sell Russian stuff. I saw a lot of different stuff while just searching via google.

Well, once I find out if this site is legit, I might just have to go with these two options:
http://www.soviet-power.com/detail.php?pid=1105
http://www.soviet-power.com/detail.php?pid=1118
Then I'll just need to get Jack Boots, some Y-suspenders, the PPSh, and large pouches to accomodate the mags. God, that's going to get expensive, but that is the price of realism.

You can get Russian Navy badges at surplus stores?

What surplus stores do you shop at?

Number 2 is the much better option. It looks much nicer too.

What impression are you exactly going for?
I mean, what era?

I would go w/ the second as the first will be too warm.
Just running w/ drums instead of stick mags will be easier to accommodate.

Well, I'm looking at doing an impression of the Late 40 - Early 60s, when the Cold War was in full swing. I was thinking about World War II, but running around in a white sailor's shirt during airsofts tends to attract attention and get you shot.

Basically the hat and the shirt is the most defining thing.

Well, the only I pictures that I could turn up where of the Marines in the 50s, who used black suit-like uniforms opposed to the one in the first picture. I guess this just opens up more options! I already know where to get the hat, just need to know where to get the shirt...
Thanks mcnair (and everybody else)!
EDIT: Just one last question:
Did naval units also use the regular army tunic (virtually the same, only with breast pockets.)?

Well, a lot of them used the dark blue naval uniforms. You have to remember that soviet infantry are more straight forward. They weren't special forces crawling in the bushes. they had guys that did that, but generally it was attack in mass, so having a dark blue uniform wasn't an issue.

But yes, generally you can get awya with a normal russian uniform, jsut get the proper shoulder boards, hat, and undershirt.

Great! Now, I can hopefully find some uniforms in navy blue...
If not, I guess I could easily obtain the necessary components for an olive-drab version of their uniform.
Thanks again!
EDIT: I've found where to get the shirt, but I can't get it in a set along with the type of trousers that they are wearing. Anyone know where to find them?
