That is a sure fire way to mess things up. There is a screw with a very sharp tip on the inside of the spoon assembly. You rotate it so it sticks down farther as to create a larger hole in the CO2 canister. If that doesn't do it for you, there a a number of mods that you can do to help get a faster explosion, but I have not had experience with those.
