SHOTGUN! Are they worth it?

Postby TheAirsoftSaint » Tue Oct 18, 2011 7:13 pm

Hey guys I'm looking to get a shotgun for my load out and was curios if it a good idea or not, From what i have seen unless you get a TM it really isn't worth the purchase. Any thoughts?

Marushin M500 is probably one of the best shotguns on the market. A bit high in price but for a well built, reliable replica in a category of gun that is usually over-looked, its worth it.

TM are way over priced. The Double Eagle shotguns are nice and hold up well. However with all plastic parts like other shottys they do not have a long expentancy to last.

Double Eagle or Bravo are GTG

Cheap, fun, and fairly reliable, but not very effective. You'll do better with an AEG, but for whatever reason you need/want a shotgun the DE will do alright.

I have had three DE tri-shots.
One was stolen, ran one into the ground (thousands of rounds, drops, smacks) and then it was stolen before it was broken, and am on my third one; third owner, run it hard in CQB and like a boss in field.

Go for it; you will have so much fun.

I've had alot of fun with a DE tri shot, they are fun but make events a hell of a lot harder if you're not used to them.

I myself have a Bravo trishot. In areas where you can get close it is a lot of fun, but out in the open... well, you're kinda just "there". It is a fun backup, or med-short range combat. I personally think they are worth it, just for the fun factor.

TM shotguns are defiantly better than the clones DE/UTG. The TM's will last you forever and have a smother operation. Thing is, is that worth it to you to pay 5 more on the TM than the clone.
If you want a shotgun as your primary airsoft gun and you airsoft monthly I highly recommend the TM over the clones.
The main issue is most people keep the spring shotties as back ups because they work in any weather, you don't have to worry about batteries and the gear needed for them is very small. If you just have it as a back up its not really worth it to drop over $200 on something you will rarely use.

I'm manly looking at a shotgun as a backup for my kit, so i have it when my AEG goes down. My biggest concern is that the clones are plastic and not metal, and i really don't want to break one.

I don't much care for using them outdoors but they are awesome for CQB. And cheap. So cheap that there's really no reason not to have a tri-shot in your kit, then you will always have a backup for CQB events if your auto gun takes a dump.

The UTG trishots might be plastic, but they're built tough. They won't break easily.

TM shotguns have a mix of plastic and metal parts.

While I do recommend the clone shotguns, take a look at any airsoft as-is section and you find a lot of the utg/de shotguns. Again I do recommend them, have one myself but you do get what you pay for here.

DE/UTG all the way. They just work. There is seriously something to be said for a backup gun that you know will be there for you, which if you have guns like mine (one is an AK made from spare parts, for example), it's great to have. They're also dirt cheap and you can get kills with them outdoors.
