Shotgun barrel?

Postby TheGonz » Sat Jul 07, 2012 7:12 pm

Ok I am now looking into getting a tri-birst shotgun, for outdoor / cqb areas when my AEG is down, and was wondering.

Q: If I had three, 6.01mm Precision Barrel tight bore barrel's and ma'jig'gerd them into, or like, the three barrel design of the standard bore barrel.

would I be able to get a bit better range?

*side note* I was going to use some .25g or .28g BB's to get through some thick brush. The place I was looking to use this at has a little city area that this type of thing would be great for.
Lets be honest, when the K9 is used all you have is a, head start, not a chance to get away.

I think some company sold tightbore inner barrel assemblies for the TM shotguns back in the day, but I remember it being an enormous pain in the a$$ to get in and install them. The newer guns might be a bit easier, but I think all shotguns also use a special barrel that isn't compatible with AEG barrels. The tri-shots weren't designed with range or upgrades in mind.

Do you think it might be worth a shot though. I mean ' If ' it works it could, be great for a in between weapon.

My original idea's were
A) was to cut off the ends of the original barrel, and attach them onto the aeg barrels. and see if it would fit.

B) some how drill out the original barrles and slide in the T.B.

more than likely you'll run into the shotgun being glued together. Taking it apart will more than likely break it.

Cutting and drilling and all the other stuff you mentioned wont be worth it for 20 extra feet. I would just get the shotgun and play with it as is. Spend the extra money on more shells and bb's to shoot more.

Ok but would the heavier BB's help with the range? Or should i just aim a little higher?

In my experience, the BB weight only really changes the spread of the three rounds. A heavier bb will drop quicker. But more accuracy and a tighter spread is worth it.

Yeah, most tri-shot shotguns that I know of have a fixed hopup that is usually set for .20s. You can still shoot other weights out of them, and it works fine you just lose some range. You will likely have a tighter shot pattern and be better able to shoot through brush though.

So .25g would be a safe bet to use? Im not really looking for any thing over 70 feet, max. Im just looking for penitration. If 25's can get the job done ill just get those.

Yeah those should work fine. Inside of 100 feet, you probably wont even notice the shorter range, but they will go through brush better.

I found .23's to work perfectly for me. Just enough added weight to keep the spread tighter than usual, but still has great range and speed.

Ok so 25's or 23's. Should I also buy more shells.
Ie green .25's
Red .23's
and swap them for a game and see what works better or just use a mixture of both?

.2's were what I always went with for the tri-shots, found the light weight to give the best spread. If you want to get REAL crazy, go with .12, dat shit goes all over the place.
