rpg fps restrictions?

Postby Reaver » Sat Nov 10, 2012 11:53 am

I was curious is anyone knows about fps restrictions on RPG's. I may have something in the works but need to get all my information together, and the only fps guidelines I have seen apply to pistols, cqb, dmr, and sniper rifles.
When in doubt, empty the mag.

Are you talking about pellets ejected from an RPG-like device or are you talking about a two fist-sized projectile you'd launch from a tube?

"Explosives" like rockets and 203's usually aren't launched at people.

Except for those 203 shower grenades.

I'm thinking a rubber nerf or nerf like rocket from a tube. I'm thinking of a replica RPG-29.

At our place those RPG's are restricted to about 50 PSI. I don't know what the FPS is but this is a safe zone.

Our RPG shots at 50 PSI, anything above that seems to be a waste of energy and nothing is gained by going higher. We have tested this with human (volunteer) guinea pigs, no harm has come to them. Our Nerf football was shot about 150-200 ft.

Keep safety in mind if you construct such a device, some sort of over pressure device and PSI gauge.

Hope this helps out.

My idea was for taking out groups behind barricades or anti armor. And would just be cool to have. I will get into the specs in a different forum, but safety and to make a good replica of it I have up to 16lbs total weight to play with lol

I saw an interesting video on youtube with a home made RPG-7 replica, but instead of actually launching something it used a laser tag emitter in the rocket, and a transmitter on all the vehicles. so when you shoot the vehicle with the rpg, the laser would set off an alarm on the jeep telling everyone they are dead. I thought it was a brilliant idea instead of having an actual projectile.

I have no idea where i found this vid, ill see if i can find it

Normally the event host will want to see it demonstrated to ensure its safety. Typically they are anti vehicle, or lobbed at people from such far ranges that they safely bounce off on impact.
