I'm thinking very hard about this... The great thing is I can cut travel cost to nil, from my being the son of an airline pilot. The shitty thing is i would be obligated to spend $200 on my AK and gear, plus the admission fee, and I'm not sure I could afford that. I guess I shall begin to fill my piggy bank now...

200 for gear/equipment is more then enough to join the ranks of the East German Army (NVA). Unless of course your heart is set on Mother Russia. ;)

Flak vests were worn by US troops at least as far back as Vietnam with the M1955 and M69. If that's the kind of "body armor" being referred to it makes good sense for NATO to have these.

I know it was around, I just didn't know it was worn ALL the time.

Regardless, I'm sure I can find one.

If you're seriously going to this, I've got one in Woodland you can use.

Gentleman if you are planning a car pool or something of that sort if I could come tag along somehow that would be preferred and cut down on your fuel costs. I am in Southern California but I think we could work something out. If not I will just fly out like usual. :)

As for the flak Vests our good friend Aswayze can usually get them for you at a extremely good price.

Alright, I am really interested, but I can't seem to find the minimum equipment list for either side. This is a pretty important thing to take into consideration before I can decide I can afford to go. Links?

You push on the Warsaw Pact or NATO picture on the main page or the subcategories toward the bottom of the main page. But here's a short cut for you ;)
