HP ppsh41 magazine compatability

Postby weasle8877 » Thu Sep 30, 2010 9:50 pm

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows if real ppsh41 magazines can be modified to fit into a HP ppsh41. I was thinking about picking up a 32rnd mag, modify it to fit and put lowcap internals in it. As long as the dimesions are right I don't think it would be that hard to remove the feed lips, and JB weld a lowcap in there.

Usually real magazines don't fit in airsoft guns, but as the HP is pretty much a custom weapon it might. Perhaps you want to be the guinea pig?

yeah thats what I thought.
Sad thing is that I can easily get 6 mags for 60$, but nowhere can I find 1 mag for anything less than 25$.

Truthfully the amount of time and effort your going to put into the conversion. Much less the materials. Is going to amount to more than just buying the mags from a suggested source. I had a buddy try to make some mags for his WE M4 from a bunch of surplus mags they where getting rid of from the armory on base. It took him 3 weeks to make one. He finally gave up and gave me the other twenty mags for my AR.

Yeah, except the problem is no one makes a stick mag for the ppsh. Besides, it won't be the first time I modified a real mag to fit in airsoft, I've done it before to my G3A3. Anyone with a hacksaw, dremel and some JB weld can do it.

Do it, there is no harm in trying. If you cant get it to work, then Sell off the rest of the mags.

Really you never know. I use M4 mags in my Famas and thats a 15min conversion of the magwell and then 5-10min per mag. Yes its not RS to Airsoft but it could be as easy and taking MP5 mag components and shoving them in the RS shell.
I do believe you can put RS mags into some gas replicas might as well give it a shot.

Thompson internals might be a better idea, MP5 mags aren't straight like the PPSH ones are.

Hey pedo, another good option would be those really cheap MP40 mags. They are straight, look old, and are very cheap.

Yeah, thats totally straight.
I was thinking either a MP5 or VZ61 mag. With the VZ61 I'd have alot of wiggle room to get it to meet the hop-up unit perfectly.

EDIT: Actually an MP40 mag could work. I could just make a MP41r conversion. It would go better with my German impression, although a German with a ppsh was certainly not unheard of.

bit of necro, but I somehow got some spare money, so this project is getting a jump start. I have my real ppsh magazines on the way, so fitting them will be my first priority. I need some sugestions on what airsoft magazine would work best for this. Research shows that a MP5 mag will work fine for the same conversion to the ares ppsh, but for my gun the feed on the mp5 magazine is way to far forward.
