Irene Adaptive Sling Review

Postby Matt » Wed Feb 09, 2011 9:40 am

I just posted up a video review of the Irene Adaptive Sling from Missionspec. Ray Beran from APST tests out the sling, explains how to use it, and tries it out with a variety of gear on. Like we did, you might wonder how it works with gear. So we tried it with a vest. We also tried it with an M4 variant loaded with accessories. We found it relatively easy and comfortable to use in all setups, but if you want to hear more just check out the video.

in your "sling manipulations" i did not see you switch from strong to reaction side, much like MAGPUL's MS2 Sling allows. that would have been nice to see if it functions under those circumstances.

from the OP thread.
I am not half as good as I want to be, but I am twice as good as you think I am.

How is it with longer guns? Something more along the lines of an M16 or M14.

It's adjustable length for long-barreled guns, but we didn't try one yet.

Yeah I saw that on their write up, but of course all the reviews are of M4 sized weapons, so I was curious how well it actually worked like that.

Suggestion: put links to the video reviews in the "reviews" section of this website.

I was planning on doing that, but actually we had planned to publish a written review for each of these items and then embed the video somewhere on those. In the meantime, a flat list might be nice.

After we shot the review, I rigged the IAS to my DMR. It is the length of an M16 and has a full stock.

Once the sling was properly adjusted to length, it works great. Slinging a longer rifle onto your back is a little more cumbersome for me, but after a bit of practice it was fine. My speed of transition was quite a bit slower on the longer rifle though.

SOLD! Speed isn't really what I am worried about so much that it works, and is able to hold the longer rifle steady on your back. Thanks.

I don't think this would work with sniper rifles, being the fact that sniper rifles are really big and can cause a problem with switching from primary to secondary.

It would be good for other types of guns though.
