1 BASIC GEAR KIT FOR MULTIPLE SOF IMPRESSIONS (MIL-SIM)

Postby Unconventional » Sun May 22, 2011 7:35 am

This post is not for myself or for my son. We already have "real deal" gear kit put together for 3 SOF's impressions...for the most part, although not perfect...lol! This is for those out there who want to acquire an accurate/semi-accurate, "real deal" kit/load-out for multiple SOF's impressions but want to only buy one gear kit....or can only buy one gear kit.

Again, I'm posting this for those who are wanting to put together an accurate or semi-accurate, universal or multiple SOF's impressions kit/load-out for both "greenside" and "blackside" events or environments, but don't have the money... or do have the money but don't want to spend a lot on their MIL-SIM/air-soft gear and/or are item specific when they shop. Meaning they target and then buy each specific item that could go with multiple or at least more than one load-out.

After we get a solid, full-on consensus over a period of time, I'll put up a generally agreed upon kit list right here for the "multiple impressions kit". Remember...this is for multiple SOF type impressions, not standard military, PMC or other impressions. AND...this is just for the main kit items, not what you're going to attach to your kit (those items are obviously impression specific...and changed out per what impression your going to use this universal kit for)...get it?

Let's keep this post limited to the following basic items, starting from head to toe:

HELMET - MICH 2000 or MICH 2001 (Norotos 3 hole mount or L3 G10 One Hole NVG Mount)

HELMET - MICH 2000

ANSI RATED GOGGLES - Probably ESS NVG Profiles would be the best.

ANSI RATED PROTECTIVE SHOOTING GLASSES-ESS ICE 2.0s seem to be ubiquitous.

RADIO HEADSET & PTT - No idea on this one.

PLATE CARRIER - EPC (Eagle Industries standard plate carrier)

CHEST RIG/PLATE CARRIER - an RRV would probably be the most ubiquitous. Or maybe an MBSS

GLOVES Mechanix

GPS or WATCH I don't know.

UNIFORM TYPE - This is the biggest variation. SpecOps often have choice in their uniform. If you are willing to go back in time a little, basic BDU's or DCU's could be good.

KNEE & ELBOW PADS (...or no pads at all) - I don't know
BOOTS - Basic desert boots would be the most ubiquitous for newer ones.

PRIMARY WEAPON - M4A1 SOPMOD...rails, crane stock or PEQ box, some sort of optic, either an EOtech, Aimpoint, or ACOG

SECONDARY WEAPON - This is another big identifier. Some units use the M9, SEALs use the Sig 226, and MARSOC uses the 1911 MEU or M9.

HAH!....
You definitely rock Dan..lol!!

Funny thing...it's somewhat ironic about what you said...recently, we (my son and I) have been running on OPFOR sides and whatever "bad guy" roles we can find at events because we got bored of wearing some of the same 'ol kits all the time. Since I started this little uniform and gear mods business, we've been getting creative with making up our own alternative kits..etc. We are almost finishing up an urban camo (gray, black and bluish digital pattern) under black CQB type tactical gear that has blue LBT pouches on it. When we finish it all up, we'll post it up on the poser gallery. So far..this alternative kit is looking sweet! It's kinda Rainbow Six'ish with a twist. I always thought that game ruled over all the others that they put out....

Man...my son and I gotta get up there some time to some of the events you guys put on.

Read, saved and added to the consensus stack....

yeah...I was thinking of the RRV and the ESS ICE glasses too. I have a feeling we're going to get a lot of the same gear advice put up...but I think in the end, this will hopefully end up helping those who are wanting to run one base kit with which they can simply attach different SOF items to. :o

Thanks Switchback.....I almost forgot.

OK..optic was added and I went ahead and added magnifier as well. If the total consensus ends up ousting having a magnifier, I'll take it off the list....but I've got a feeling it will stick as part of the main items due to its versatility and ability to change a close-target acquisition scope to a mid-range..etc scope.

Somebody should put all this gear on and take a picture at the end so we can see what the complete loadout looks like.
