No.

In Nevada (where I was LE) any felon possessing any firearm or replica was indeed in violation of the law. A felon with a BB gun is an armed and dangerous individual in the eyes of the law.

It depends on the state, and the conditions.

Possession of an airsoft gun during the commission of a crime is generally construed as a firearm offense in most states. But to simply own one is not of itself a violation depending on what state you live in. In Florida, they are considering some legislation that would inhibit your ability to posses such an object.

There is also an issue of association. We have a lot of players who work in Law Enforcement and with the Military, or have association standards based on their jobs who can not associate with a felon. We don't allow them to come to our games for this reason.

Seeing as you're in the Georgia area, please don't take this as legal advice. You should check with competent legal counsel authorized to practice law in your state, and in good standing with your states Bar Association.

OK, you edited your post. Hang on, let me find the Florida Legislation...

If there is one, I can find it. One of these days I'll actually look.

No, that's not true. It HAS to have the red tip, or it will be construed as a firearm. Again, check with competent legal counsel licensed to practice law in the State of Florida for the specifics.

I still do not see anything on a felon possessing an Airsoft gun Just illegal to be used in the commission of a felony.

In Nevada, it was a sense issue. What sense does it make for any felon to have any gun. And they mean it. A nail gun is about all a felon is supposed to have in his/her possession. Think about it from the cops' POV, say a traffic stop on your way home from a game. Harmless. He/she runs your plate, it comes back as registered to you, an ex-felon. That officer INSTANTLY escalates his/her response level upon seeing you, an ex-felon in camo WITH (read:any) A Gun. That officer doesn't care if it is a BB gun or not. They now blow the top off of their escalation-o-meter. You, the ex-felon, are now staring down the barrel of a REAL gun, wielded by officer X. You go down, at least right then, for a FIP. You can explain to to the judge why you, an ex-felon, was in possession of (any) A Gun. So, in my book, it's up to you to decide. Does it make sense for a felon in Nevada to own an airsoft gun?
(for the record, Nevada is a good ol'boy state. Run by liberals and EVERYONE has a gun and 1 in 4 has a CCW)

The specific answer needs to cme from someone licensed to practice law in Florida. You're looking for legal advice regarding that state, and that's where you should look.
