ICS M1 Garand at Shot Show

Postby BoogeyMan » Sat Jan 21, 2012 4:33 pm

We were lucky enough to get one of the first looks at the M1 Garand prototype by ICS. The prototype was non-fucntioning, so it's difficult to say definitely how this M1 Garand is going to end up.

The ICS reps were pretty sure it was going to be an AEG but it sounded like gas has been in discussion as well. For you WWII enthusiasts, this will make an unique addition to your collection. It will take a 8MM BB, adjustable hop-up, large type battery in the stock, and will be a semi-auto fire only. They are planning on two versions - Imitation wood stock & Real Wood Stock. No retail price information was available. Release date is slated for July/August 2012.

Due to the uncertainty of some answers from ICS, it appears the future of this replica still hasn't been set in stone.

What do you think? 6mm or 8mm? Gas or Electric? Magazine or clip?

Oh lordie, that's one sexy rifle
I sure hope I can get my hands on one of those without putting a huge dent in my wallet, lol.

Hopefully it's going to be electric 6mm with an en bloc clip, I love those things, but I don't see how they'd be able to do something like that.

My personal opinion. 6mm because it's easier and cheaper to buy, and safer. And definitely gas all the way. Every electric long gun has issues. If we're looking at a true representation of an M1 Garand with a 5 round clip (yes, I said clip) - then what's the point of it being an AEG? People aren't going to be blasting away on full auto with 500 round hi-caps at WWII period events.

I got excited about this , but I am hearing rumors that there won't be any 400 round mags.

WWII games are (were...) usually in the Winter where gas wasn't a good option.

The M1 clip held 8 rounds....

Oh, thought it was 5 to a stripper clip. That would make sense, they said it would hold 8 rounds. So maybe they are looking at a clip option rather than an inserted magazine.

It wouldn't be cool if didn't have a clip that goes ping when you take it out ;)

That's why you throw an empty clip on the ground to make the ping and when they pop their heads up you waste them silly! :p

I am sure some putz will find a way to stick hi-cap P-Mags in it, along with rails and some retardo tactical stock.

From what I heard, it was already set to be in 8mm, it would have a removable magazine just for ease of use, and it's an AEG.

The ICS rep said gas is still a consideration.

The whole point of the Garand IMHO is the *TING* you get when the clip ejects.

I think Marushin did it right the first time. Hopefully the ICS will atleast be 8mm.
