AP Mobile in the Works

Postby Matt » Sun Dec 02, 2012 11:13 am

I've been working on implementing a mobile theme for AP. This cuts out all of the excess "fluff" on the website and keeps it down to the bare essentials for navigating and reading the content. My hope is that you can more easily find directions and game details while on the road. There's nothing more annoying than waiting forever for a page to load when you just need a quick address or the directions to a field.

My question to people using this thread is how often do you view AP on a mobile device? Exclusively? Or do you use a desktop computer when you really want to dig in and do research?

Here's a quick teaser to show what I'm working on. This is the forum index.

I would use my phone for AP a lot, I don't now because it is rather hard to navigate and page loads are slow.

I do it quite a bit when I'm at school and don't have my laptop with me that day. A mobile layout would be really, really handy.

My phone is my computer. Would make navigation much easier. Very good idea.
When in doubt, empty the mag.

I use my phone to check on the website which can be a butt to click on the right icons. I'd like a easier version to use with my phone

I use the mobile version a lot for directions as well. As well as just in general. Cant wait for this to get going! Thanks Matt.

A mobile version would be great because I usually go on AP on my phone

95 percent of the time I am on a tablet, so the index would be great, and viewing the unread posts would be spectacular if it had a few large buttons (especially while selecting pages of longer topics).

I hate mobile sites and have a UA Sting so Chrome loads only full sites. Even if I have to pinch and zoom I like seeing "normal" content

Finding direction quickly to a field would be amazing top include in the app.

I think perhaps a large "Go Mobile" button would be good, but defaulting to mobile kills me. Especially when it reverts to mobile once you've gone normal every page or two.

I use my phone to see my pm's mostly, check adds if i'm bored, and read the newest posts. I've never used the search on my phone, or just read old posts for the hell of it.

Having a go to full site button would be useful if located as one of the first things to load. I find it difficult now to select the "view unread posts" or "view new posts" part. And in reading pm's you only get to see the pm and part of the quoted ones. You can't scroll to see the whole history of the pm on a phone now.
