I never really got the point of carrying an SMG as a sidearm, excluding, to a point, for a backup for a sniper. I prefer pistols as a secondary because it goes in a holster so having multiple slings doesn't become an issue.

That's true, I see your point. It's just that I don't want to spend more money on a pistol and holster, and I don't want to go on the field with just a bolt action either. I might not even use the bolt action at large events, I just wanted one for backyard wars that I play with my neighbor's and wanted to know if it's bulky carrying a mp5 with a sniper rifle. I pretty much got my answer. But I'm still debating fixed or collapsible stock. :?

If you want a cheap sidearm, then get a DE tri-shot shotgun. It's what I use when I bring out the bolt action. It's easy to sling over one shoulder while still leaving you plenty of mobility.

And if you aren't going to use the mp5 as a sidearm, then get the full stock, because you have to use small batteries if you get the collapsible stock mp5 (they have to fit in the for grip).

On that note about shotguns by G36, why don't you look at the newer marushin shotgun knockoffs? You can get the shorty, stockless version for $180 on ASGI, and it shoots 5 at a time. I'd use that if I were looking for a weapon to complement a bolt platform.
