G&G GR16 Full Metal RIS or Standard Handguard?

Postby malik » Sat Apr 17, 2010 1:29 pm

I am thinking about upgrading to a PEQ Box/RIS Rail set-up. Would this be easier or harder to change the battery? Would I need to change my battery type? I currently have the kind with 2 rows of batteries wrapped in tape... I seriously can't remember what those are called... Box batteries? W/e, anyway. What are the pros/cons have RIS Handguards or normal handguards? Thanks to all those who answer.
We want 'em to know if they're gonna leave a bomb on the side of the road, first, we're just gonna blow up their little f**kin road.

You have a mini/small battery, I think.

RIS pros:
-Customizable with accessories
-Looks cooler

RIS cons:
-Weight
-Depending on brand, unless you have rail covers, them things can cut

Handguard pros:
-Lightweight
-Can easily hold small-type battery

Handguard cons:
-Looks poopish
-Depending on brand, wobbly or cheap-feeling
-Not very customizable, you can only put a rail on top and/or bottom

Thanks, I'll consider it. Pity about battery... Just as added info, it uses the smaller connectors and fits in the handguards. May all be obvious info but still...

Or you could wire to the back and use an even bigger battery, or at least one in the buffer tube.

Also, if you're intending to go with a PEQ2, those will fit small types and custom type batteries, depending on brand once again. If you're intending to go with either a PEQ15 or PEQ16, those will only fit custom LiPo batteries, although I do believe that TM's PEQ16 has an extender to hold small type bats.
