Experience with hop-up units?

Postby Chapel » Thu Jul 01, 2010 2:47 pm

Hey guys,

I'd like to work on the accuracy of my stock Classic Army M4. I started with a tightbore barrel, now i've been looking at aftermarket hop-up upgrades.

Anyone have experience they'd care to share? I read in the sticky Systema seems to be the preferred goto brand for top-end replacement parts. My experience is relatively nil when it comes to AEG part swapping.

Systema or Prometheus soft bucking and an SCS or H-nub should do some good. Use a soft bucking for under ~ 400fps or a hard bucking for over 400/410 fps.

Kinda basic information. What else would you like to know?

We want 'em to know if they're gonna leave a bomb on the side of the road, first, we're just gonna blow up their little f**kin road.

Nothing more than that really, thanks for the input! Basic is what I like lol. I tried to do a spring swap myself, epic reassembly fail.

hey i have an echo 1 mp5 and my hop up isnt working right. its as though its just off completely. Iv got some experience with other hop up units but not the mp5 style. anybody have any ideas? should i just get a new one or is it a quick fix? Overview: Everything looks normal on the unit, shots just start to arc down after about 20 ft as if it was hop up was off. Iv taken the barrel out looked inside and cant see anything. Iv taken the screws off and the hop up apart and havnt noticed anything wrong (could be something since im not used to mp5 hop up) Thanks

I had terrible experience with systema buckings. They are significantly thinner than others I have seen, and the systema soft bucking I bought created a horrible airseal in my Classic Army (300 fps out of a m120 spring, verified at AONW that the bucking was the problem).

I would recommend the Madbull Blue bucking, I get an excellent airseal with mine.

ok by experience with other hop ups i meant that iv had an m4 ak and sig style. the problem is the gear on the m4 popped lose or on the sig the knob popped forward. not sure what the nub is.

I'd recommend handing Jesse your aeg and credit card, then ask him to put a little rock 'n roll in it...
