Accuracy upgrade for G&G GR16 Carbine

Postby malik » Sat Jul 24, 2010 8:48 am

I want to eliminate the annoying spin of bbs to the left and get a good grouping at about 150ft or so. Whatever is moderately high for a AEG assault rifle. I would like to spend less than $40 on this upgrade total. Looking at a Systema, Guarder, or PDI if they make one bucking, a tightbore 6.02 in the same or greater length than my standard G&G m4 length barrel. I will most likely go with MadBull as PDI is a little expensive for me. Is a 6.01 okay with TSD .20 grams? I don't really want to have constant jamming and cleaning issues, so if 6.01s are really as bad as what I've read in this, I won't bother with the little bit of improvement.
We want 'em to know if they're gonna leave a bomb on the side of the road, first, we're just gonna blow up their little f**kin road.

A firefly soft bucking is your best bet. That will improve both range and accuracy. Your not going to get s decent tightbore for under $50 so don't waste your time with one that is less than that, in my opinion. I have a promy 6.03 and I noticed a reasonable increase in accuracy, but don't expect to eliminate everything, also hop up arm shims might help, I know they did with mine, here is the link:

Is it consistently spinning left? If so, your barrel might be rotated slightly left.

As far as upgrades go, I've been installing a ton of Madbull TBB's for customers lately, and I run one myself. I also have a Promy in my M4. Just pick up a Madbull barrel. The Promy looks nice, but it performs very similar (if not identical) to the Madbull.
For every action (Bang) there is an equal and opposite reaction (HIT!)

Well, I am split between a Prometheus, Guarder, or Systema bucking. What IS the nub I keep hearing about? I have found a Prometheus Air Seal Chamber Hop Up Packing SOFT. Should I buy a separate nub? How does one install the nub?

I don't have experience with Prometheus buckings, but the several systema and guarder buckings I've purchased have served me well.

As for the nub, they are talking about H nubs...

Theoretically it puts even pressure on the bb, thereby keeping shot consistent and rid the world of fliers...

Nub is the small cylindrical piece of rubber/plastic sitting on the hopup arm that pushes on the bucking. Just buy a madbull 363mm tightbore, and get a madbull bucking with the X type nub that they include and you should see an improvement if installed right. I use a prometheus soft bucking in my SR16 with good results but a systema or madbull would give equal performance with a lower cost.

I have had two prometheus buckings. The first got deformed (my fault) and the second, the hole where the BB feeds into the chamber was to big leading to double feeds. They work great, when they do. Also their nubs are good as well. But still, firefly, its the best if you can find one. Or a stock TM bucking.

Edit: Here is link that may help with your upgrades, I know a number of guys that have followed it and gotten their rifles shooting very nicely.

Why do people not do ANY research before they start working on and asking questions about tech shit? Seriously, how many YouTube videos are out there that explain exactly what a hop-up unit has in it and how it all works?

I've never seen you say anything about not being able to load videos, and even if you're telling the truth that's no excuse, because there's many guides out there that aren't videos.

I have to say so in almost every thread I make... I do use html guides, however they often are not what I am looking for or too graphic too load. Meaning too many pictures. I have my answer now anyway. This is now becoming another what I call, "bitching thread"... Lock?
