If I remember correctly, G&G type L85s (the ARMY being its clone) use a proprietary 18-tooth piston. I don't remember how to make TM spec ones work.

I'd ask James. He's one of our resident experts on ARMY L85's.

SR25 type pistons work. The sector gear and I think the spur gear too are also different to accommodate the long piston. Any regular inner barrel is compatible, they use M4 hopup chambers, but the material doesn't really matter. The stock ones give kind of a bad seal so it'd be good to replace but i read in a review the element polycarb unit helped groupings on an Army L85 by a lot. There are differences between buckings, I'd suggest a 2gx one or a Systema + SCS nub. Regular springs are fine I think.

I have an upgraded army L85. The hop up and springs are both m4 compatible, as far as i'm aware the bucking's don't matter. My inner barrel is a mad bull Prometheus 509 TTB. The piston is an SR 25 compatible piston, the m4 piston is three or four teeth too short.
