KWA G36c very strange feeding issues! Help please

Postby matteumayo » Mon Oct 11, 2010 10:59 am

I bought a used KWA G36c a few months ago and when I went to test fire it it wouldn't feed correctly.

The best way to describe this is after 10-20 shots, I can't shoot bbs and the only way to keep firing is to take out the mag and put it back in.

However when I take out the mag, I notice 2 extra bbs sitting int the circle where they are fed into the gun. At first I thought it was an issue with the mag double-feeding or something.

So, as you can imagine, I ran out and bought 2 MAG 100rd Mid-cap G36c mags from AONW.

To my dismay, the midcaps did the exact same thing. 2 extra bbs in the feeding area.

What can I do/who do I pay to fix this???

I was going to go to an OP this weekend but can't because of this issue!

Thanks,
Matt.

Replace the hop up bucking first, it is a barrel disassembly. Be carefull when you pull the barrel, if it slams out you break the hop up unit (first hand experience). Not too expensive but another trip to AONW.

Or take it to AONW and pay Jessie to fix it.

So you have tried multiple magazines with the same effect, correct?

I'd first dis-assemble and re-assemble the hop-up, as something may not be seated correctly. (I can't really recommend any local techs, because I live far away )

Also, it is normal to have 2-4 bbs remaining in the mag well, as the magazine follower does not reach all the way into the hop-up; leaving 2-4 bbs stranded between the hop-up and the magazine.

So it seems to be a problem with the hop-up then.

I know almost nothing about airsoft gun assembly, so I'll probably ask AONW.

Just wondering... who is this Jessie person everyone's talking about?

Is he/she the only airsmith or just a really good one or something?

Yup all airsoft guns, unless it's a GBB or a Systema PTW, will have the extra bb's sitting in where the magazine feeds into the hop up. You can fix this by somehow extending your bb feeders in the mag.

You havn't really described what happens. Does the gun still shoot? Is it dry firing or can you tell there is a bb in the hop up when you fire the gun? There are three different gun the sounds make when it fires, one is without bb (dry firing), other is with bb that exits (normal), and the last is there is a bb stuck in the hop up or the barrel (jammed gun).

It could be something very simple like the magazine bb catch is to long and catches the bb's preventing it from feeding into the gun continuously and thus the gun dry fires as it does not have a continuous flow of bb's. This can easily be fixed by filing down the little catch on the top of the mag that holds the bb's in place until you put it in your gun. It is a common problem with STAR pmags in KWA's especially, but I don't think MAG mags have this problem very much. I know MAG mags don't always flow into KWA's consistantly.

The magazine could also be jamming inside itself. Are you properly lubing the magazines?

Or it could be more serious like the bb feeder in the gun is broken or the hop up is damaged or something. Then you will either need to learn alot about airsoft guns and take it apart or have a air smith take care of it.

I'm thinking it's a mag issue considering it works again after your put the mag back in every time. That's just me though.

Does the gun feed fine with the original hicap the gun came with?

The problem I'm having is the bbs just "stop" feeding causing the gun to dry-fire. Then, to see what's going on, I take out the mag, and see 2 extra bbs sitting in the circle.

That's what's happening, and it happens with all the mags I've tried (the KWA orginal and the two MAGS).

Try holding the mag upward when you fire. It could be that your hopup 'nozzle' is not long enough to disengage the BB stopper in the magazine, I've had a similar problem with AEGs in the past.

Is it possible that this could have happened when the previous owner replaced the barrel?

If so, would it be easy to fix?

No it wouldn't affect it. I told you how to fix it already. File down a half millimeter off your bb catch on your magazine. Or totally recreate your hop up using advanced metal machining tools and make a hopup that is slightly longer. You decide.

But this happens with all of my mags.

Doesn't that mean it's a problem with the gun itself? Like even the KWA original mag.

Yes, it could be the aforementioned problem of your hop-up assembly not being quite long enough to get the job done.

Every few models of gun have various design flaws. The CA AUGs need their feeding tubes widened, some M4s need tape on the back of the magazine or the mag catch tightened so that all the mags feed correctly. You may have to modify your magazines to fix the problem with your gun if replacing/elongating the hopup is out of the question.

Okay.

I went down to AONW and talked to an employee in person and resolved this issue!

The mags I have are just a little finicky. :P
