I believe he was referring to railed handguards, which are indeed for pussies. Anyway, go A2, its the cooler choice.

Also, isn't an A3 simply a fully auto version of the A2 for Navy SEALS? The fixed carry handle was the same, I thought.

Also, I be a fan of iron sights. I aim just as fast with them as I do with anything but a genuine EOTech and they don't break and they don't need batteries. Carry handles for the win!

Also, the A3/A4 thing. In the US military, the only difference between an M16A2 and the M16A3 is that the M16A2 has a burst limited and the M16A3 is full auto. The M16A4 has a removable carry handle with a rail underneath, but is otherwise an M16A2 with the same burst group. Frequently, especially in the Marines, although also when the occasional front line Army unit has full-length M16s, they are fitted with a rail system instead of the M16A2 style handguard.

The confusion arises because Colt marketed what became the M16A4 as the M16A3 before the M16A3 was adopted by the Navy. So, in civilian parlance the M16A3 came to refer to the version with the rail, although in military parlance that is the M16A4. Really, though, if you want to be super cool get a C7 or a C8. Because Canadians are cool.
