Miniguns!

Postby B.O.P. Hawk » Mon Jan 17, 2011 12:12 pm

So, we've all heard about the $3500 airsoft miniguns out there...
would it be possible to build one from scratch? If so, what parts would i need?...

Have a look at this website. There are designs for miniguns and more.

Before you decide to embark on this project, take a look at some of the videos showing them in action at an actual event. The one I watched looked really cool with the "terminator" effect, but it was so bulky it was pretty ineffective and some dude with an M-4 took him out. Your call, but it did not live up to the hype, vehicle mounted? thats another story.

Someone asked this before and I'll say the same to you.

If you really want a minigun just do it this way.

Spinning barrels is for show. The barrel is down the middle of the fake barrels.
Your just adding stuff to a m4 to make it look like one and moving the trigger so you can fire it like a minigun.

Like DJJ said not that good of a foot soldier weapon but if you get a golfcart and hang it from the frame. ZING! Drive with one hand and shoot with the other.
Kick me. I go "Moooooooo!!!!!"

But this video is soooo much cooler!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsfY_4vWN5A

The other way might be as cool if you stuck a lipo in it.

And like they said before, mount it on a vehicle!

Thus the problem....you need a pack mule for the power supply and the ammo supply

I did some research on the Echo 1 Mini gun a few years ago and found out the magazine only holds like 1700 rounds (please remember I am doing this from memory since all my reference papers are in the US and I am not) and if I remember correctly the magazines are fairly pricey so you may have a platform that can shoot 6000 a min but you do not have the ammo supply to do so, they are cool but the one I went against at Steel Talon changed to a SAW after hiking up to the re spawn so many time because every time he was seen every gun was on him. Cool gun just not practical as a hand help platform. Like stated before Mount it on a vehicle and then find a HUGE box mag for it and it might be really cool.
Best of luck in your acquisition and hope it works out for you.

my plan, no matter the type, is to have a huge (~10,000+ rounds) box mag that motor-feeds into a flexible tube that is connected to a reverse engineered magazine.
say i were to make it smaller... and more versatile... would it be effective then?

I want to make it function the same as the echo 1 one. Having wheels that ride a track which will cock and fire the pistons. this would be connected to an auto feed system and would fire one shot per barrel.
