How do I use a smart charger?

So I have on 1 amp, 11.1 volts, lipo charge, and every time i turn it on the voltage flys up to around 11.70. Is this bad?

edit: it's now in the 12volt range

The voltage that is displayed while charging is the total voltage of the lipo, When a 11.1v lipo is full charged all the cells have a voltage of 4.2v, that's a total of 12.6v.

You didn't read my post all the way through, did you? I mentioned that you may see the cells go up to 4.2v, as Nec just said.

I read it but i didn't put 2 and 2 together to see the voltage go all the way up to 12.6
