M14 reg. vs m14 soc.

Postby garth8 » Thu Feb 24, 2011 1:11 pm

I am looking into buying a G&G m14 and I am torn between the regular m14 or the socom. I have had plenty people tell me to do each of them but I can't make my mind. I'm looking for range and accuracy. If you guys have any thoughts feel free to share. Thank you much.

The only reason to get a SOC16 is because you want something that is unique, and can be effectively fielded both indoors and out. That's why I bought mine. If you want accuracy and range, get the full-sized one. The longer barrel length will help with that, and tightbores for the full-size are more readily available. You can still find them for the SOC16, but they're not as common.

It is common knowledge.

I had the G&G long version. Loved it. Just dont drop it. Mine broke twice in the same place and the 2nd time did some motor damage. Totally operator error. It shot like a dream and brought fear to those it was aimed at. Which ever one you go with, i have rail systems, mags, pouches and such ill sell you for cheap. Let me know.

If you're looking for range and accuracy go with the full length M14. The advantage of the SOC style is that they are shorter and more maneuverable through dense brush. There is a compromise of the two you can go with. The CA Scout has a removable flashhider that is longer than the un-removable flashhider on the G&G SOC-16. I have an M16 length TB on my Scout with the stock flashhider. Doing this you have to be careful because part of it is exposed within the cage or you can add a suppressor.

I prefer the G&G's spring release and battery compartment. However both G&G's I've owned had issues with the selector switch. I bought my Scout a month after they came out and have had zero issues with it.
