Dboys M4 mag issues

Postby Jewish Ninja » Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:33 pm

So I have a Dboys M4 that is not wanting to let me seat any mags in it. I've checked for obstructions, of which there are none. I've tried different hop up units, 3 different mag catches and 3 different brands of mags. It'll hold the mags with the upper off, but once I reattach it, nothing. MAG mags will go up, and almost catch on the mag catch, but not enough to hold them in place.

Basically, I'm stumpedafied as to what the problem is. The only thing I've done to it since I got it, was take out the GB so I could paint it. It still cycles just fine, and the small amount of paint in the magwell shouldn't impact the mags seating in the gun.

Weird question, but is the spring at the front of the hop up unit still there? It might not be pushing back far enough.

sounds like a possible alignment issue with the lower portion of the hopup unit to magazine feedhole.

I had someone at LOW have that issue and I fixed it in 3 seconds by slightly turning the hopup unit while inside the rifle.

The hop up spring is in place. The mags are making contact with the hop up and I can even move it back and forth, but something is not allowing the mag catch to fully seat. When you look at the mag catch arm from the side(with a mag in), it appears to be fully shut (or at its normal resting place).

Try one or any of the following:

Tighten the screw on the mag catch release.
Add Velcro on one side of the magwell - prevents mag from moving side to side.
Pry the lip just a little bit with a flat head screw driver on the mags where the mag catch release makes contact.

I hope this helps.
